Concord-Carlisle High School to Host 15th Annual ‘Hoops for Heart’ Fundraiser

The Health and Fitness Department at Concord-Carlisle High School will host its 15th annual “Hoops for Heart” fundraiser on Wednesday, April 15, to support the American Heart Association.

CONCORD — The Health and Fitness Department at Concord-Carlisle High School will host its 15th annual “Hoops for Heart” fundraiser on Wednesday, April 15, to support the American Heart Association.

Students and staff will take part in basketball and heart-healthy activities throughout the school day in the main gymnasium and cafeteria. The event raises funds for heart disease research and education while encouraging students to learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in several basketball challenges, including free throw shooting, three-point shooting and the “Larry Bird Challenge.”

Students and staff may donate $1 for a chance to compete and win prizes. Participants may also complete heart-healthy activities to earn entries for prize drawings.

Activities will take place throughout the day, including during Flex block and first lunch. All funds raised during the event will be donated to the American Heart Association.

Last year’s fundraiser generated more than $700 to support the organization’s mission to fight heart disease and stroke.

Local businesses are also supporting the event by donating gift certificates and other items that will be awarded as prizes to encourage participation.

“We are proud to continue this tradition of bringing students together for a fun event that also supports an important cause,” said Health and Fitness Department Chairperson and Teacher Andrea Gillis. “This event helps raise awareness about heart health while giving our school community a chance to make a meaningful difference.”

The Health and Fitness Department organizes the event each year as part of its broader effort to promote wellness and community engagement among students.
