Concord-Carlisle High School Earns National Music Education Recognition for Second Straight Year

Concord-Carlisle High School has received a 2026 Best Communities for Music Education Award from The NAMM Foundation, marking the second consecutive year the school has earned national recognition for its music program.

CONCORD — Concord-Carlisle High School has received a 2026 Best Communities for Music Education Award from The NAMM Foundation, marking the second consecutive year the school has earned national recognition for its music program.

The award recognizes schools and districts across the country for providing strong access to music education through student participation, funding, instruction and community support.

More than 1,000 schools and districts nationwide received the recognition this year.

At Concord-Carlisle High School, the music program includes instrumental and choral ensembles that regularly earn Gold Medal ratings at Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association festivals, student-led performances such as the annual PRISM concert, and international cultural exchanges including the department’s recent performance tour in Nanae, Japan.

“This recognition speaks to the commitment our students, teachers and families bring to music every day,” said Fine and Performing Arts Department Chair Joe Pickman. “Our students work incredibly hard, and the arts are an important part of the culture at CCHS both inside and outside the classroom.”

Marissa Kosiba, parent of a CCHS band member, said music education gives students opportunities to grow both academically and personally.

“Music gives students a place to connect, collaborate and build confidence,” Kosiba said. “For many students, these programs become an important part of their school experience and personal growth.”

Recipients of the Best Communities for Music Education Award are selected through an application and review process that evaluates factors including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support.
